The Brio! Package

People being treated for, or who are attempting to prevent depression, often require ongoing assistance to change their behavior and life style. Recipients of ongoing programs better live up to their potential. In the Brio! program, participants have an opportunity to develop life skills that may enable them to benefit more effectively from therapy in the present or the future.

There are six modules (24 sessions) total. You can begin with the Definition module. As mentioned, each module contains four sessions along with supporting materials.

More about Brio!

Brio! was created using adult learning technologies and selecting most frequently needed content areas from patients in psychotherapy. Brio! is designed in modular form. The program contains six separate modules. Each module has four sessions, three for the participants and one for the participant's families.

Each session is designed for

  • sixty to ninety minutes of instruction
  • interaction
  • skill application, and
  • skill building practice.

As the facilitator, you may choose individual modules at random and use the modules in any order, but it should be noted that the four sessions in each module are related and may refer to information learned in the previous session(s). Because of the frequent repetition of the skills in different applications, bringing new participants into the middle of a module will not likely present difficulties.

Facilitators may choose to extend a module to last more than three sessions. The 60 to 90-minute instruction model is flexible and can be compressed or extended according to your needs.

Each Brio! session is set up to present materials using the following model:

  • Presentation of new material
  • Determining application of new skills
  • Practicing the new skills in a supportive environment
  • Implementing the new skills between sessions
  • Reporting and discussing the implementation in the following session
